One of the best things about working from home is that you can rollover in bed in the morning and take care of a very few important emails without needing to leave your pillow. This morning, I did just that, taking the first fifteen minutes of my day to write a lengthy response to an email that had come in over night on my iphone.
Then, in a moment of stupidity, I selected all of the text in the email and hit “paste” instead of “copy”. This of course, replaced my long email with the last thing on my clipboard (which happened to be a URL for a funny cut picture I’d shared with someone). Cursing Apple for not making an undo button to take away my error, I deemed the email lost forever and closed the draft without saving.
Well, after a little research, it turns out that there is an undo button for iPhone mail which works just perfectly for errors like the one described above. If you shake your iPhone or iPod Touch when the error occurs you’ll get a little popup button asking you if you want to undo the text change. If I hadn’t deleted the email, I’d have gotten my text back.
As it was, I spent the next fifteen minutes retyping the email. But I learned my lesson. Shake after deleting.
